Greetings CASA Families!

Please make note of the following dates:

  • 11/15 (THIS THURSDAY!) 7PM: Mural Fundraiser at The Residence
  • 12/5 6PM: Books Inc. Holiday Shopping Fundraiser
  • 1/11 6PM: Art & Music Show at the Verdi Club
  • 2/8: Family Music Night at Precita Park Café
  • 5/19: CASA Musical at Lowell High School

CASA will be open one hour earlier next week- there is no additional fee for your scheduled days. Be sure to email us if you need extra drop in care. Due to parent/ teacher conferences we will have limited access to our host classrooms and are unable to conduct our regular programming. This is a fabulous time to come help out and earn your family service hours! We will be working with the kids on a brand new mural for the CASA bungalow and starting to do character interviews in the MPR.

The CASA mural crew (headed by Teacher Angi) has been hard at work planning and prepping for the new mural on the CASA bungalow. All interested students will be involved in creating this masterpiece which will reflect the art and social justice mission of the program and celebrate our 2012/13 theme: REVOLUTION!

Get a sitter and come join the CASA crew as we toast the kids and raise funds for the new mural! The Residence (714 14th Street- 7PM- grown-ups only!) is hosting an evening of artisans cocktails- come for the drinks, the company, the fabulous raffle prizes, an auction of pieces from the former mural and help raise funds to cover the cost of the new mural. Flyer attached. Great big thank yous to Teacher Nicole for volunteering her time to organize this event!

Do your kids love their CASA teachers? Want to show your love? Next week is a great time to bring treats, snacks, coffees, etc. for our hard-working staff. It will help ease the challenges of early dismissal week and show our team how much we appreciate them. All contributions should be recorded in the family service binder on the sign-out table in the bungalow.

We are also looking for a parent to organize holiday gifts for our teachers. Contact me if you’d like to earn your family service hours by collecting and distributing contributions.

Bring the kids and get a kick-start on holiday shopping on Wed, 12/5 6-8PM at Books Inc. in the Castro. We will have cookies, milk and bedtime stories for the kids while the parents shop at one of SF’s favorite independent book shops. Pajamas are highly encouraged! A portion of the proceeds will go to CASA!

We invite ALL CASA families to join us for an evening of performances and artwork at the beautiful Verdi Club (2424 Mariposa) on Friday, January 11th at 6PM. All CASA kids will have work in the show and many will be performing.

In an effort to close out last fiscal year and move forward with collections, our admin team has been contacting families who have an outstanding balance. We currently have over 75k in uncollected invoices. CASA is dependent on your timely monthly payments. We will work with any family to come up with a feasible payment plan.

If you received a statement that does not look right to you- don’t panic! We will go through it with you and determine if there is an error.

Just a gentle reminder to please sign your child out with the time and a complete signature. You should also use your child’s sign out sheet to alert us to upcoming absences, changes in schedule, or other reminders for teachers (ie- make sure Johnny eats his snack). You should review your sign out sheet regularly to make sure that the dates and times are correct as we do our billing from them.
